Annual Fun Run will take place on May 20th
at 3:00pm. Runners, ages 2-10 will run a short, fun race on the historic property and sprawling grounds of Waveny Park in New Canaan. The runners will raise money for one of our two featured charities, New Canaan YMCA Special Needs Programs or Project Morry. The run is open to all children who would like to participate. Face painting, entertainment and snacks will be available.
The Fun Run is a community and charity event hosted by the Young Women’s League of New Canaan with all proceeds benefiting Project Morry, the New Canaan YMCA Special Needs Programs, and the YWL giving fund. The 2016-17 YWL Giving Fund will focus on local children's organizations.
Featured Charities for the Fun Run
Project Morry is a comprehensive year-round youth-based organization dedicated to empowering children from under-resourced communities. Anchored by a superb four-week residential summer camp, while providing academic enrichment programs and support throughout the school year, Project Morry offers a nine year commitment to each child entering the fourth grade.
New Canaan YMCA, Special Needs Programs welcomes and encourages ALL children of all ages and abilities to participate in all that the YMCA has to offer, whether that be with adaptations or additional support or in a specialized class. Individual differences are celebrated in an enriching recreational experience. One example of the Y’s many programs provides social learning experiences to teens with special needs. They have the opportunity to develop strong friendships, strengthen their social interaction skills, and build self-confidence in an environment where they feel welcome and can thrive.
